GDEX 2017

GDEX is the largest conglomerate of game developers in the Midwest. Each year independent, student, and hobbyist have the opportunity to show off their games in a professional manner. With each year of thousands in attendance and growing GDEX has become a yearly goal for developers in the Midwest to get their games to a state they are proud of to showcase to everyone.

I have been in attendance for GDEX (formerly OGDE – The Ohio Game Developers Conference) since 2012. The first event is what catapulted me into the game development community and eventually what led me to become the organizer for IGDA Cincinnati. Each year I have been more and more involved. I have been an attendee, to an exhibitor for five years, speaker, sponsor and now Board Member.

  • 2013 – I just found out about GDEX and attended a small conference showcasing around 20 games and speakers.
  • 2014 – Exhibiting college project with colleagues for Purrpulsion.
  • 2015 – Showcased Autumn Creek – part of the Gear5 Media booth as well as a Gold Tier Sponsor for creating the website that year.
  • 2016 – Spoke about the essentials of Virtual Reality to the second largest room available to get everyone up to speed on where VR will be taking us. I also manned the booth showcasing the works of IGDA Cincinnati and Nectar Games Studio.
  • 2017 – Board Member, reaching out for speakers, individuals for workshops and various sponsors \ future connections for the conference. IGDA Cincinnati was also in attendance showcasing games.

Each year gets larger and I will always have a hand in growing the game development community.
